White Bear Challenge Canoe Race

Think you are speedy in your canoe and quick-footed on the portage trail?

The White Bear Challenge on July 16 in Temagami, Ontario, is a 16-kilometer paddling and portaging race through several different bodies off water just off the Trans Canada Highway. Contestants will travel on six portages totaling 1.9 kilometers. The first White Bear Challenge took place in 1996 to honor the White Bear family’s traditional lands, old growth forests filled with pine trees and the rich heritage of canoeing in Temagami.

Packs and canoes will be supplied by Smoothwater Outfitters.

The race will take place during the Temagami Canoe Festival and you can sign up here.
