A new video from Boulder, Colorado-based cinematographer Joey Schusler follows the filmmaker and childhood friends Mason Lacy and Sam Seward on a 12-day journey in the Altai Mountains of Western Mongolia.

Flashes of the Altai sees the group travel by mountain bike and packraft on this self-supported journey through an incredibly remote region. This was the first packraft and mountain biking expedition for the trio. Along the way they spend time with Kazakh nomads who still hunt with golden eagles, drink fermented mare’s milk, wake up one morning with their tents and bikes blanketed in a thick layer of snow, battle stomach bugs and ride camels.
