Paddling Film Festival 2020 Premiere Hosted By The Complete PaddlerFebruary 20, 2020 – Paddling Film Festival 2020 Premiere Hosted by The Complete Paddler

Since 2006, the Paddling Film Festival World Tour has been showcasing the very best paddling films. The World Tour screens in more than 120 cities around the world. Join us for this year’s best paddling films. You’ll be inspired to explore rivers, lakes and oceans, push extremes, embrace the paddling lifestyle and appreciate the wild places. Since Rapid Media launched the festival back in 2006, the World Tour has screened 959 times to more than 282,864 audience members. Rapid Media has awarded $71,000 to paddling filmmakers and helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for charitable causes. The Paddling Film Festival World Tour has grown to become one of the largest paddling events in the world. This year’s premier is hosted by The Complete Paddler at Royal Cinema, 608 College St. Proceeds go to the Duke of Edinburgh Award for youth development. Tickets are $14 in advance or $17 at the door. March 28, 2020 – Credit River Downriver Race 

The 62nd annual Credit River Downriver Race will see paddlers take 20-30 minutes to paddle 10 km of class I and class II rapids between Streetsville (1814 Barbertown Road) and Erindale Park in Mississauga. $20 to enter one of the many different classes of kayak or canoe races.

April 17, 2020 – M.A.C.K. Fest

Kawartha Whitewater Paddlers club hosts and organizes the Marmora Area Canoe and Kayak Festival (MACKfest), an annual event to celebrate the beginning of the whitewater paddling season. As spring arrives the snows of winter melt to swell the rivers in the basin known as the Lake Ontario Watershed. Many of the rivers and creeks are found in south central Ontario between Peterborough and Sharbot Lake along the Hwy. 7 corridor.

Canada’s largest whitewater race, HOHW features stand-up paddle board (SUP) demos, flatwater paddling, camping, photo contest and loads of family events including inflatable fun. No experience or equipment necessary, and most activities are free of charge. Take the time to celebrate our rivers and join us for the weekend.

Palmer River Fest

May 15-18, 2020 – Palmer River Fest

Palmer River Fest is the ideal whitewater event for families and friends who enjoy paddling together. Located along the banks of the beautiful Madawaska River, the Paddler Co-op is situated just downstream of Palmer Rapids’ novice- and family-friendly Lower Set rapids. During this fun festival weekend, the Co-op’s pine-shaded campground fills with tents as canoeists and kayakers desend on one of Ontario’s most celebrated whitewater playgrounds. The class II rapids here are perfect for beginners and great for more advanced folks looking to improve specific skills. Even better, a well-worn portage trail alongside this 400-metre section offers easy scouting and re-runs. Targeted clinics during the day are followed by live music and dancing in the evening.

Held for the 63rd time, this annual event attracts more than 700 paddlers in all disciplines – for many – a must participate event. Held on the scenic Des Plaines River in northern Illinois

Ontario Sea Kayak Centre is excited to be hosting Paddlepalooza, the largest annual sea kayaking event in Ontario, for our 8th year in Parry Sound. Parry Sound’s proximity to the open waters of Georgian Bay, the moving waters of the Moon River and the sheltered inlets of the Sound, make Parry Sound the ideal location for hosting Paddlepalooza. We bring together the best sea kayak instructors from some of the top paddling schools in Canada and the United States for this spring tune-up event.

The Women On Water Festival is open to all women, from beginners to advanced paddlers. Learn how to kayak and stand up paddle (SUP) from some of the most celebrated coaches in Ontario’s paddling scene. Advanced paddlers can hone paddling and rolling skills. Meet other Wild Women paddlers and enjoy lots of fun activities and entertainment at Camp Tapwingo.

National Paddling Week

June 8-16, 2020 – National Paddling Week

National Paddling Week is Canada’s celebration of recreational paddlesports, craft heritage, and water safety from sea to sea to sea! During National Paddle Week clubs, groups, organizations and/or individuals community members are welcome to host events of all shapes and sizes – or simply register a private/family paddle on the free shared calendar. No fees, specific affiliation or membership to any group is required to participate from Paddle Canada or its website. Join in an event near you. The Canadian Canoe Museum in Peterborough often holds National Paddling Week events as well as other paddling-related events throughout year.

June 20, 2020 – Kawartha Paddle Quest

KAWARTHA PADDLE QUEST is a paddle, canoe and SUP race on June 23rd at Peterborough Ontario. This 50-km quest starts on Stoney Lake. Transportation for you and your watercraft will be provide from Peterborough to Stoney Lake where you will start your quest. After Stoney Lake and Clear Lake, you will navigate 8 portages (longest being 100 yards) down the Trent-Severn Waterways, past the Lift Locks and finish on Little Lake in Peterborough.

July 19-21, 2020 – Temagami Canoe Festival

This 2-day, indoor-outdoor, multistage, ticket and family-friendly celebration hosts activities that include canoe displays, demos and workshops, kayak demos, historical talks, birch bark canoes, guided old growth forest hikes, live music, food and craft vendors, and much more.

July 25, 2020 – Mattawa River Canoe Race

Race with the pros or join the recreational paddlers as they paddle and portage their canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards 64 km from Trout Lake, North Bay to the Mattawa Island Conservation Area. The scenery is spectacular, the portages are challenging, the pride of accomplishment earns you bragging rights for following in the historic wake of Voyageurs who followed the path of the Huron and Ojibway as they travelled this Heritage River enroute between the Great Lakes to the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

August 7-8, 2020 – Upper Ottawa River Race and Paddle Festival

The Upper Ottawa River Race and Paddle Festival is a three day event celebrating active outdoor lifestyles and the Ottawa River. The festival kicks off on Friday August 9th with kayak and SUP clinics, race registration and live entertainment on the beach by the bonfire. The events continue on Saturday August 10th with the Kayak Fishing Derby and a day of races on the river at Deep River Yacht Club (44km), Petawawa Point Beach (13km) in Petawawa and Riverside Park (4km & kids) in Pembroke. The festival wraps up on Sunday August 11th with Raise Your Paddle as well as the third annual Heritage Paddle.
