As far as new year resolutions go this seems like a pretty healthy one from multiple angles: save gas, get the exercise and the peace of mind that an early hour on the water offers. Why not start the work day with a paddle? With seals and otters as traffic, Laura Prendergast, Pygmy Boats‘ marketing gal, decided kayaking to work sure beat the alternative of driving. So she grabbed the easily shouldered Arctic Tern 14, stashed her lunch in a hatch and (with the assistance of kayak wheels) walked the 1/2 mile to the beach and then paddled the 3.5 miles from North Beach, Port Townsend to the Pygmy headquarters at Point Hudson. Here is the video of her commute.
