After your first night at the Wabakimi Wilderness Ecolodge, your canoe adventure starts with a “bush-train” ride into the Wabakimi wilderness to see and experience the boreal forest and Canadian Shield.
After unloading your canoe and gear from the train, your paddling journey begins. Over the next five days while paddling and portaging through the park, you might happen upon a rare and elusive woodland caribou, a huge Canadian moose, a beaver, a playful otter or a majestic wolf.
As you canoe through the pristine waterways, you’ll have a chance to drop your line and possibly catch the biggest fish of your life. At the end of the day as you sit around the campfire and enjoy the sunset, you will hear the call of the loons off in the distance.

Experienced trip leaders, all camping equipment, high quality canoes & kayaks, great food, transportation to and from put in (train in, van out), accommodations – one night at the Eco-lodge and high quality tents for your canoe trip, all park fees and permits, maps and pre-trip orientation plus satellite phones and safety equipment.

The Wabakimi Wilderness Ecolodge is located on Mattice Lake, near Armstrong. Latitude 50.333960 Longitude -89.041114 Directions The Ecolodge is approximately 2.5 hours drive north of Thunder Bay. Flights are available into Thunder Bay with Air Canada or Porter Air. You can either rent a car through Budget at 1-807-622-6908 for a special rate for guests or arrange for a pick-up at the airport or motel room with a shuttle van (additional fees will apply). |

Wabakimi Wilderness Outfitters have been paddling in Wabakimi since 1976. Keeping the wilderness integrity of the Wabakimi area is of foremost importance. They have been interested in the preservation of this wonderful expanse of natural wilderness long before Ecotourism became a recognized term in the English language.

Wabakimi Wilderness Outfitters offer a vast array of guided trips for beginners and intermediate paddlers either canoeing or kayaking in the Wabakimi and Nipigon areas as well as full or partial outfitting. Their drive-to Ecolodge is a great jump-off for wilderness trips.
