Day 2 of the 2015 Canoecopia Show, presented by Rutabaga Paddlesports was even busier than the first day, with crowds filling the halls to check out the latest and greatest gear. The first paddling show for many in the US, Canoecopia was filled with spectators looking to buy new boats for the season, getting caught up on the latest trends in the world of paddling and talking with old friends they were worried about over the long winter. Check out the latest offerings that are sure to start a frenzy once spring hits your local waters:
Stohlquist
Rather than suffering with your PFD digging into your back while sitting in your kayak, check out Stohlquist’s new line of PFDs with thin backs, including their new Edge and the Misty (pictured above). The thin backed PFDs are designed to reduce seat interference to nothing and provide tons of extra ventilation. The thinner back also helps with greater mobility.
There are multiple stash pockets in the new PFDs, as well as neoprene sunglass pockets and internal mesh pockets. New sizes (small, medium and large) are more staggered and make sure the PFDs have a better fit, instead of small paddler getting swallowed by the PFD, or a larger paddler feeling tight.
North Water
North Water has released a new throw line that is designed to be the easiest stuffing throw line ever. Their new Pro Throw Line, are professional grade and have three internal pockets for a rope log and glow sticks, making them perfect for night rescue. The bag’s wider mouth allow for quicker stuffing and the the front mesh panel allows for faster water draining. There are also attached belt loops for waist deployment.
Yakima
With the popularity of Yakima’s entry-level SUPPUP racks, they have just recently released their new SUP Dawg racks, which are a beefier, lockable version targeted for more advanced standup paddle boarders. The new racks have a built in roller wheel to assist in ease of loading boards onto the racks and a reinforced, un-cuttable strap extends from within the rack itself. The new racks can fit up to two 36″ boards at once.
Sylvan Sport
Throwing your kayaks on your roof is quite the feat sometimes. Sylvan Sport’s new GO-Easy trailer is ideal for throwing multiple boats and a bunch of camping or fishing gear onto and then quickly attaching it to virtually any vehicle.
The 275lbs trailer is so light that not only can any vehicle tow it, but you can also un-hitch it from your truck and walk it down to the launch by hand. All the lights on the trailer are high-quality LEDs and come standard with 74″ Thule crossbar racks.
