Remote-controlled helicopters are changing the way we see the river. While some paddlers stick GoPros on inexpensive drones to capture images from new angles, professional aerial photographers and videographers are taking it to the next level with high-end equipment and expertise.

“In the kayak industry, creating great web edits of dynamic and extreme locations is the norm,” says Ethan Fortney, CEO and camera operator of Shifted Cinema, a Pacific Northwest-based media company. “The aerial aspect can capture the essence of the sport while adding a perspective that, until recently, had never been seen.”
