OR Demo Day: Angle Oar’s New Paddle Mounts

Angle Oar showed off their paddle mounts at the Outdoor Demo day in advance of the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market August 2-6.

Angle Oar’s Meg McCall explains that the mount has been “three years in the making” as they perfected their product. There are two mount styles, one for sit-on-top and one for sit-in kayaks. The mounts fit most kayaks and have a bar that provides a lot of stability. Installation takes 10-20 minutes and requires a drill, wrench, screw driver and pencil.

McCall explains that the Angle Oar system has great energy efficiencies and can be easier to paddle for those who experience shoulder and back stress. It can also be used one-handed, making it a paddle that can work for kayak fishers and even for amputees.

Angle Oar was created by McCall’s father, a retired mechanical engineer who began kayaking at 75 years of age. The system is intended to help people get on the water who previously thought they wouldn’t be able to kayak due to shoulder or back problems, asthma or grip limitations.
