Don’t miss The Great Canadian Kayak Challenge & Festival in Timmins, Ontario, this August 26 to 28—it’s the biggest money kayak event in Canada! Registrations are now open. Last year more than $12,000 in prize money was awarded. From Elite to Novice to Celebrity, there’s a race category to suit every type of paddler.
The three day weekend will appeal to every age demographic and will include seminars, complimentary clinics, a Friday evening country concert featuring Chelsea Crites, Ginger St James, Lipstick Rodeo, an Aboriginal Village and culinary experience, and a Saturday night rock concert featuring AK McLeod, Helix and Honeymoon Suite with a fireworks extravaganza to round things out. Sunday will take it up a notch and bring you the Summer Water Sports ski and fly-board stunt show, with three performances scheduled.
In addition to the races, the large city festival includes arts and music performances, children’s activities and hot air ballon rides. The festival also features a half-hour fireworks display and camping is free for paddlers.
