Here at Rapid we see a lot of captivating kayaking photos, from pro paddlers charging down waterfalls so massive their candy-colored kayaks appear as specks, to play boaters styling some of the world’s biggest surf waves in remote regions. When we came across this photoshoot from photographer Dan Vojtech featuring paddler Vavrinec Hradilek, we knew this was something different. Featuring Hradilek suspended in a studio setting with nary a rapid in sight, the resulting photos show kayaking in a unique was we seldom see.
