OR Day 1: Three New SUP Boards From Boardworks

The Verve 11 is a fitness and touring SUP. The fast board with great glide is super stable and has carbon vector net technology, reducing point loading and giving the user better weight distribution and transfer of power. The board also has low-entry rocker, a flat-bottom and a v-shape through the tail that gives paddlers super-efficient glide. There is a tail pad for easier turning, a handle for ease of carrying, and a FCS Connect touring fin that allows the paddler to avoid the hassle of carrying tools to and from the water with them.

Boardwork’s Gretchen Gamble says that the Verve 11 is aimed at lighter paddlers—up to 190 pounds—and “fitness-minded people who like to go fast and long.” It is suitable for recreational racing and flatwater touring.

The Verve 11 is $1,399 and will be available to retailers in November.

Boardworks also showed off the newest version of the Eradicator, a racing board that has been in their line for a few years and has been updated by designer Phillip Rainey. The new Eradicator is lighter and stiffer and has brushed carbon construction. Rainey explains that they tweaked the shape by flattening out the deck. He kept the rocker the same, but dropped the nose profile at the deck to allow the board to better pierce the water. The Eradicator is great for racing on flatwater or the open ocean. Rainey says the board is extremely versatile, and the fin is placed forward, helping with surfing and making quick turns.

The 14’ Eradicator is $2,499 and the 12’6” is $2,199. They will be available to retailers in November.

In the all-around category, Boardworks is also launching the Rukus 10’6”, a stable and budget friendly board perfect for the family.

The board has a proprietary hull design and comes with a surf-capable fin set. It also has Bombshell construction and Kevlar-reinforced rails with a full multi-textured deck pad. For paddlers who enjoy having the kids or dog along for the ride, the deck includes slip-free space.

The Rukus 10’6” is $999 and is available to retailers in January 2017.
