Sweet Protection, the Norwegian-based company with a serious on-the-river following, are releasing a new spray top in March 2017.
The Sabrosa Spray Top is lightweight with great freedom of movement. Sweet Protection’s Johnnie Kern told us that the Sabrosa was created due to the demand from both their team of athletes and customer base. The spray top has an inner waist tube with taped seams and grippy silicone elastic hem, cuffs and collar in Neoprene with Lycra on both sides and a waist seal tube with annapped Yamamoto Neoprene with rubber inside.
The Sabrosa is a great choice for kayakers who are paddling on warmer days and don’t want to sweat like crazy in a full dry top but also aren’t keen on paddling in just a PFD. It can also be a useful piece of kayaking gear if you are heading out to paddle later in the day in the summer and anticipate the temperature cooling down while you are on the water.
The Sabrosa retails for $399.
Sweet Protection is also celebrating the 20th anniversary of the first helmet they ever made with the Strutter LE Anniversary.
The very first Strutter was made in company co-founder Staale Moller’s garage in Norway in 1997, prior to Sweet Protection’s 2000 establishment. The technology of the Strutter has altered somewhat in the years since the first was made, but the geometry of the lid and the distinctive Sweet look remains the same. The Strutter LE is handpainted, comes in white and blue and launches in March 2017. Retail price is $249.
