Coming from the river world, I’ve watched as NRS has continually upped their game in the SUP scene. And it’s not just their inflatables; their paddle lineup has become impressive too. The Fortuna has become my daily driver the last two seasons. Two big reasons why are the solid construction for all-around use and the ease of adjusting the LeverLock for travel and changing length.

I have mixed feelings about breakdown paddles. Being able to pack them up for the drive and to stow around the house is a big plus, and higher-end multi-piece options have solid ferrules. However, putting together even good multi-piece sticks leaves room for frustrating assembly and failing parts. What I love about the Fortuna is that while it is technically two pieces, it’s really an adjustable-length one-piece. The length range for the paddle is 68 to 84 inches. I can shorten it to toss in the car, and on the water, I can decide where I want the length to be based on what type of paddling I’m up to.
