Dogs love fresh air and adventure just as much as we do.

Whenever I start getting my gear ready, Daisy watches my every move with hopeful eyes. She can’t wait to get outdoors and have some fun. Luckily, Ontario is full of dog-friendly destinations.

RUFFSTIC Holidays

If you are looking for a camping holiday, Ontario Parks allow dogs to join in the fun. Twelve parks now offer special pet exercise areas and beaches. Arrowhead Provincial Park, one of my favourites, has a large pet exercise area with two beautiful beaches where your dog can swim and play (or go kayaking).

Other favorite parks includes Killbear, Bon Echo, Mikisew and Restoule.

Pampered Vacations

If you are looking a more pampered vacation but with lots of fun outdoor activities for you and your pup, check out these dog-friendly resorts.

Voyageur Island Lodge, Atikokan (vwp.com/voyageur-island-amenities/)

The Lodge is located on a secluded island on Nym Lake on the border of Quetico Provincial Park. It offers a perfect wilderness eco-adventure for your whole family.

Woodhaven Country Lodge, Lakehurst (woodhavencountrylodge.com/dog-a-kid-friendly)

The motto at Woodhaven says it all: “If your dogs sleep on your bed at home then they can sleep on your bed at Woodhaven.” After fun days of playing, swimming and running, sleep in comfort in a cozy cabin.

Viamede Resort, Woodview (viamede.com)

All cottages are completely pet-friendly, there are NO EXTRA FEES for bringing Fido along and there is a designated off leash dog park on site.

Sunny Point Resort, Cottages and Inn, Parry Sound (sunnypointresort.com)

You and your dogs will enjoy a fun and relaxing vacation on this 84-acre waterfront playground on Otter Lake, near Parry Sound. Stay in very clean and well-maintained dog-friendly cottages.
