New canoes require a new roll, or at least modifying your roll technique that worked just fine in the old bigger solo canoes.
Solo whitewater canoes such as the Ocoee, sit much lower in the water when full. The modern plastic boats such as the L’edge have more flotation and higher sides making it a tall order to get your head into the canoe to finish your roll. The new “step & flipper” technique helps accomplish that.
Looks like you have adapted a Greenland Kayak technique. Well done.
