“I think it’s very important for all Americans to take a stand, a positive stand, in protecting wild rivers and scenic areas.”—Former President Jimmy Carter

In this beautiful new edit from NRS Films, the 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter, reflects on a adventure on the Chattooga River. Carter, now 92, recounts running Sluice Rapids in a tandem canoe, an experience that had a profound impact on his approach to life and politics. He pushed to designate 57 miles of the Chattooga as Wild and Scenic, deeming it permanently protected from development and dams. During his time in politics, Carter also vetoed 16 dam projects in the country.
