The halls were buzzing on opening day of the 2015 Canoecopia Show, presented by Rutabaga Paddlesports. The first paddling show for many in the US, Canoecopia was filled with spectators looking to buy new boats for the season, getting caught up on the latest trends in the world of paddling and kayaking and talking with old friends they were worried about over the long winter. Check out the latest offerings of boats that are sure to start a frenzy once spring hits your local waters:

P&H Kayaks

The new Scorpio II, (shown above, in yellow) a new version of P&H Kayak‘s popular boat, has “many little changes.” Available in three different sizes sometime this summer, the redesigned boat has a lower cockpit in the back, and the hatches are angled more so they will be easier to access on the water.

The stern has been redesigned to give more balance to the boat and new rigging allows the boat to be sail-ready. There are recessed grooves along the deck of the kayak for your splits to slide into and the boat is more comfortable overrall, but with better performance. The most obvious difference is the boat’s new “skudder system,” which is a skeg when half-deployed and a full rudder when fully deployed (shown above on the Jura kayak). A recessed slider control for the skudder is located on the deck of the kayak, out of the way of your knuckles.

Jackson Kayak

Jackson Kayak’s Tupelo is sure to be a hit with many recreational anglers looking for quality features in a boat. The most obvious advantage to the boat, besides the hull’s sharp bow, is the “truly dry” stern hatch, with a sealed bulkhead. Jackson’s new hatch latching system makes for a watertight seal to protect your valuables while you paddles.

Along with the new hatch system, rail systems are located throughout the deck to provide key mounting options for paddlings, including navigation, or fishing rod holders. The boat is availble in 12 foot and 15 foot versions, and they are 100% made in the USA.
