First Look: Corran’s 3-Piece Hydra SUP

The three-piece Hydra standup paddleboard from designer Corran Addison was a unique offering at Outdoor Retailer’s Outdoor Demo Day on August 3.

The three-piece recreational design is made of foam and slides together on two stiff tubes. Ratchet buckles secure the sections. It easily packs into a backpack for transport on public transit and doesn’t require inflating at the put-in.

The versatile Hydra can be easily adjusted for kids by securing the bow and stern pieces together, removing the middle piece entirely.

The foam is ultra durable, and the manufacturers claims that, “Assembled, the board boasts superior performance to inflatable boards, being stiffer with a more efficient shape, stronger than Epoxy boards and lighter than plastic.” The Hydra weighs in at 26 pounds.
